This sturdy yet elegant wall clock can be called Arts & Crafts, although it does not come from England. It was designed by Albin Muller and made in a workshop in Germany. The design is entirely based on honest use of materials, beautiful lines and perfect proportions. It is an example of design as we have come to know it in the course of the twentieth century. There are also table models of this clock, but a wall model is not known. It is a very rare piece of early Art Nouveau of exceptional quality. The clockwork has been completely overhauled and runs perfectly.
A proposito di opere artista
Albin Camillo Müller (13 dicembre 1871 - 2 ottobre 1941), è stato un architetto e designer tedesco attivo a Darmstadt. Nel 1906 fu nominato alla colonia degli artisti di Darmstadt, dove divenne l'architetto principale dopo la morte di Joseph Maria Olbrich (1908). Nel 1907 fu nominato professore e dal 1907 al 1911 insegnò Arti Applicate. Nel 1918 insieme a Kasimir Edschmid, Albinmüller fu nominato presidente del nuovo Consiglio d'arte di Darmstadt. Nel 1926, Müller fu nominato architetto del Deutsche Theaterausstellung a Magdeburgo. Nel 1934 si dedicò alla pittura di paesaggio e lavorò anche come scrittore.
