This sturdy yet elegant wall clock can be called Arts & Crafts, although it does not come from England. It was designed by Albin Muller and made in a workshop in Germany. The design is entirely based on honest use of materials, beautiful lines and perfect proportions. It is an example of design as we have come to know it in the course of the twentieth century. There are also table models of this clock, but a wall model is not known. It is a very rare piece of early Art Nouveau of exceptional quality. The clockwork has been completely overhauled and runs perfectly.
Sobre artista
Albin Camillo Müller (13 de dezembro de 1871 - 2 de outubro de 1941), foi um arquiteto e designer alemão ativo em Darmstadt. Em 1906 foi nomeado para a Colônia de Artistas de Darmstadt, onde se tornou o arquiteto principal após a morte de Joseph Maria Olbrich (1908). Em 1907 foi nomeado professor e, de 1907 a 1911, lecionou Artes Aplicadas. Em 1918, junto com Kasimir Edschmid, Albinmüller foi nomeado presidente do Conselho de Arte recém-criado em Darmstadt. Em 1926, Müller foi nomeado arquiteto do Deutsche Theaterausstellung em Magdeburg. Em 1934, dedicou-se à pintura de paisagem e também trabalhou como escritor.
