  • A proposito di opere d'arte
This fine Art Deco sculpture represents Crysis. In Ancient Greece this means literally : gold vessel. In the scribes from Alexandria by Caroline Lawrence, there is a girl who is called Chrysis. She pretended to be a eunuch for years because she wanted to become a scribe in the great library of Alexandria. Maybe in this sculpture we see Chysis carrying a vessel of gold, a hidden treasure revealed . This sculpture is depicted on page 168 of Bryan Catley's Art deco figures. Andre Guerval was a pupil of her husband, the famous sculptor Pierre Le Faguays.
