Astrid Verhoef è una fotografa freelance e d'arte con sede ad Amsterdam. Mette in scena scene che rasentano il surreale. Collocando individui e oggetti dove sembrano non appartenere, spostando il familiare in un paesaggio sconosciuto, le sue fotografie sembrano ricontestualizzare la normalità. Contrapponendo uomo e oggetto, esamina identità ed emozione in relazione alla società moderna rispetto agli spazi naturali.
Lavora anche come grafica e produttrice di mostre fotografiche olandesi, ha organizzato mostre a New York, Amsterdam, Leida e Tokyo. Ha stabilito collaborazioni con Photoville New York, Fotofestival Naarden, Dupho e International Photo Festival Leiden. Dal 2018 lavora come curatrice e program manager per Photo31, una piattaforma olandese per la fotografia professionale e d'arte. La sua opera è stata acquistata dal Ministero dell'Economia olandese e fa parte della collezione del Salon des Beaux Arts di Parigi.
