Otto Eerelman was first a pupil at the Minerva Academy, Groningen, and later attended the Antwerp Academy (1864-1865). Having begun as a painter of old Dutch interiors and genre works, Eerelman gradually established a reputation as a painter of horses. He is best known for his paintings of Queen Wilhelmina in riding habit. His later work from the early 1880s is almost entirely devoted to dog portraits or groups of young dogs. Museums: Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, and Groninger Museum, Groningen among others.

45 x 61 cm - A proposito di opere artistaOtto Eerelman fu dapprima allievo all'Accademia Minerva, Groningen, e in seguito frequentò l'Accademia di Anversa (1864-1865). Dopo aver iniziato come pittore di vecchi interni e opere di genere olandesi, Eerelman si è gradualmente stabilito una reputazione come pittore di cavalli. È noto soprattutto per i suoi dipinti della regina Guglielmina in abito da equitazione. Il suo lavoro successivo dei primi anni 1880 è quasi interamente dedicato a ritratti di cani o gruppi di cani giovani. Musei: Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam e Groninger Museum, Groningen, tra gli altri.
