- Sobre artistaJohannes Bosboom nasceu em Haia em 1817 e tornou-se aprendiz do pintor de paisagens urbanas Bart van Hove. Ele cedo escolheu se especializar em interiores de igrejas, encorajado pelos elogios que recebia de seus contemporâneos. Suas aquarelas e pinturas retratam o interior silencioso de igrejas, povoadas por figuras em trajes do século 17. Como um artista da Escola de Haia, ele procurou transmitir as impressões que esses edifícios deixaram sobre ele. Ao mesmo tempo, inspirou-se na luz e na atmosfera das obras dos pintores do século XVII Rembrandt e Emanuel de Witte.
