About the artist
She combines two art forms that have very different appearances. Hieke Meppelink is a singer of classical music and a sculptor of figurative bronzes. “For me, modeling is like singing in clay, trying to make visible in matter what initially seems invisible. Transformation is the keyword in this creative process. In song art that is the transformation of a feeling into a fleeting sound and in essence I experience sculpture as a similar process, but this time in a solid, permanent matter: primal materials such as clay and bronze”.
