About the artist

Jan Homan was a Dutch painter. As a fourteen year old boy, he came into contact with artists who fled the German fascism and came to Hoorn. One of them was Adolf de Haar, a German Expressionist painter. Later, Homan took lessons with the Impressionist Carl Faringer, who also stayed in Hoorn. After going to the Art Academy in Amsterdam for a short period, Homan developed into a Expressionist painter. Later on, his work became more abstract. From 1962 on, he exhibited with members of the COBRA group like Appel and Corneille. Homan called himself an Abstract-Expressionist painter. He has exhibited his work across Europe.
