    18E-EEUWS UTRECHT "Traiacti ad Rhenum" Plattegrond met aangezicht van de stad Utrecht. Kopergravure uitgegeven door Matthäus Seutter rond 1740. In de tijd met de hand gekleurd. Afm. 49 x 56,5 cm. Seutter was een van de belangrijkste Duitse kaartenmakers van de achttiende eeuw. Hij werd geboren in Augsburg in 1678 en kwam in de leer bij de befaamde cartograaf Johann Baptiste Homann in Neurenberg. Hij vestigde zich als zelfstandige uitgever van kaarten in 1707 en werd al snel Homann's grootste rivaal. Zijn zaak floreerde en nadat hij zijn Atlas Maior had opgedragen aan Karel VI, werd hij rond 1731 hij benoemd tot Keizerlijke Geograaf. Hij produceerde in zijn tijd schitterende kaarten (circa 500), atlassen en globes, alle befaamd om hun cartografische detail, prachtige kleuren en rijk versierde cartouches.
