La carriera artistica di Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig inizia convenzionalmente con un periodo di formazione alla Rijksakademie di Amsterdam.
Durante un successivo soggiorno a Parigi (1888-1889), conobbe il neoimpressionismo di Lucien e Camille Pissarro, che lo colpirono profondamente.
Dal 1895 in poi, l'artista iniziò a dipingere lui stesso in questo stile, senza, tuttavia, l'uso del colore strettamente prescritto a cui aderì il puntinismo francese. Hart Nibbrig ha voluto utilizzare tocchi di colore per creare lo scintillio della luce solare.
Per questo a volte sceglieva punti molto fini, altre volte pennellate applicate più spontaneamente combinate con macchie di colore e contorni. Morì a Laren (Noord Holland, Paesi Bassi)
