    In this landscape, the early beginning of Cross’ pointillism is seen in the sky and some parts of the landscape. Other parts are still painted in the realistic manner he was used to, but already with the bright colours of the impressionists.

  • Over kunstenaar

    Henri-Edmond Cross (Delacroix) werd in 1856 in Douai, Frankrijk, geboren. Zijn werk kan gezien worden als behorend tot de latere jaren van het Neo-Impressionisme. Toen hij naar Saint-Clair verhuisde, vlakbij Saint-Tropez. Hier richtte hij zich op de pure landschapsschilderkunst in olieverf en aquarellen, waarbij hij vaak werkte met een helder en verzadigd kleurenpalet. Cross overleed in 1910, toen hij nog in Saint-Clair woonde.
