- Sobre artistaJacob Maris foi um grande pintor da Escola de Haia. Mais do que qualquer outro artista, ele foi capaz de capturar os tons de cinza prateado de um dia nublado na Holanda e combiná-los com marrons escuros, ocres e um único toque de cor. Ele pintou principalmente paisagens, paisagens urbanas e cenas de praia. Influenciado pela Escola Barbizon, ele pintou diretamente da natureza. Ele alcançou grande sucesso internacionalmente e seu trabalho foi vendido na Escócia e nos Estados Unidos.
