- About the artworkA Chinese bronze archaistic Hu vase, Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
The pear-shaped body rising from a short splayed foot into a waisted neck with slightly flaring mouth and two loop handles, cast in low relief with archaistic pendant cicada blades alternated by two bands of archaistic kui dragons against a leiwen ground.
Provenance:
Formerly in the collection of a diplomat family stationed in Hong Kong, collected before WW2 (by repute).
Private collection of a noble family in Groningen, The Netherlands.
Dimensions:
Height 21.5 cm, width 12 cm, depth 8 cm.
Condition:
Good condition with a nice warm brownish patina.
