About the artist
Alfred Boucher was a French sculptor who was born in 1850. He was the tutor of Camille Claudel and a good friend of Auguste Rodin.
After winning the Grand Prix du Salon in 1881, he moved to Florence for a long time and became popular, sculpting presidents and royalty.
Before moving to Florence and after being the tutor of Camille Claudel for three years, Boucher asked Auguste Rodin to take over his tutoring activities. This is how Auguste Rodin and Claudel met for the first time.
He also received the Grand Prix de sculpture at the World Exposition in 1900. He died at the age of 84 in 1934.
His works can be found in multiple museums, such as the Musée Camille Claudel.
