- About the artist
Joris Verdonkschot is a Dutch artist who follows the traditions of figurative sculpture. He is an expressionist. Over the last 20 years he has successfully followed the ‘naked body’ theme in his work depicting strong, striking and powerful women. “I want to be the director of my sculptures, both the form and the perception” says Joris Verdonkschot. “Primarily my own perception, but preferably also that of the viewer. Often my sculptures have no beginning and no end. They need to be rewarding from all angles. In balance.” The lines in Joris Verdonkschot's sculptures reach back to the figurative traditions of the Greek classical period.
