  • About the artwork

With his entrancing colourful paintings, the Italian musician and artist Alessandro Casetti (Bagno di Romagna, 1981) metaphorically depicts all the emotional processes that take place inside and outside our own body, through the skin. A skin that, like a geographical map, tells the undiscovered latitudes of our most intimate and deep inner selves. After graduating from the Istituto d'Arte in Sansepolcro, Arezzo, he went to the Art Academy of Florence, where he studied for a year.

Casetti experimented with different painting techniques, which refined his skills and, through constant research, encouraged him to further explore the rich world of the figurative arts. Music goes hand in hand with art and represents a fossil fuel that constantly fuels his creativity.

    Artist Statement

"To create my works, I used industrial paints, mainly water and white spirit enamels that I apply by gravity on wood or canvas. By drying on the support, the colors take on different shapes and textures, yes they thicken and crack, creating the effect of crackle (or craquelé). The work therefore becomes material, alive. And the sensation is that of having, in front of your eyes, something infinitely large or infinitely small; vision satellite of the planet, the cracks of the parched earth, fossils of ancient lakes; or maybe, on the opposite side of the spectrum, the slow progress of mold seen through a microscope. The macrocosm and the microcosm in dialogue, mixing and merging."
