  • About the artist

The love of patterns, rhythm and lines has always been a driving force in the creative work of Paul Brouns (1967).

He graduated in 1990 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tilburg in the disciplines Photography, Painting and Drawing. After starting out as an artist, exhibiting with paintings and drawings, he gradually became more involved in graphic design. In the meantime, largely out of the public spotlight, he has continued to work on his photographic work for many years.

When watching Paul Brouns' photography the viewer is transported from factual observation to a near abstract geometrical world. It is a universe, full of dense patterns, colourful energy and sensually swinging patterns, often provided by architecture. Sometimes elements of buildings are repeated, or re-used to enhance the rhythmic experience.
