Rodolphe Paul Wytsman (1860, Dendermonde – Linkebeek, 1927), also spelt Rodolf Paul Wijtsman, was a Belgian painter. Rodolphe Paul Wytsman (1860, Dendermonde – Linkebeek, 1927), also spelt Rodolf Paul Wijtsman, was a Belgian painter.

He studied under Jean Capeinick at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst (Academy of Fine Arts) in Ghent. Subsequently, he studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Brussels, where he came into contact with the circle L’Essor, in which Henri Permeke, James Ensor and many other artists participated.

In 1883, he was a member of Les Vingt for one year. In 1986, he married Juliette Trulemans, who was a painter too. Wytsman’s subject matters are genre paintings, landscapes, city views.

Wytsman works in a luminist and neo-impressionist style. He exhibited in the salons of Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent. His works are in many museums in Belgium and abroad, in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, etc.

He lived and worked in many places, in Italy (1882-1883), Knokke, La Hulpe, Linkebeek (1892-1927). During World War I Wytsman lived in the Netherlands.
