- A proposito di opere artistaAbel Bertram è nato a Saint-Omer, in Francia, nel 1871. Autentico postimpressionista, ha studiato con Léon Bonnat e Antoine Guillemet. Espone al Salon des Artistes Français di Parigi nel 1899; vinse una menzione d'onore alla stessa mostra nel 1901. Bertram espose al Salon des Indépendants dal 1905 al 1939. Espose anche al Salon d'Automne e al Salon des Tuileries, nonché al Salon National des Beaux-Arts. Bertram dipinse un'ampia varietà di soggetti, tra cui nature morte, paesaggi, fiori e figure. I suoi dipinti si distinguono per una tavolozza unica e un uso insolito del colore. Bertram usava i colori primari, che mescolava lui stesso per ottenere i toni desiderati. Soprattutto nei suoi nudi riesce a creare un meraviglioso senso di intimità con la modella.
