Raymond Huisman is opgeleid aan de Rietveld Academie en volgde daarna zeven jaar klassiek model- en portretschilderen. Het schilderen naar waarneming bracht hem veel verwondering, vaak over de werking van het zien zelf. De laatste twee jaar heeft hij bronzen gemaakt van figuren ten voeten uit. De tekenaar in hem stelt hoge eisen aan het silhouet van de pose. Van alle zijden gezien volgen de contouren consequent een spannende, wervelende lijn.
After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, Raymond Huisman studied Western painting for a long time. Traditionally, visual reality is depicted as if the canvas were a window. In this way one sees the world through the eyes of an artist. The artist sees the world in the context of his time… The infinite number of interpretations of reality are reflected in all those different representations of it. And then, the works of art themselves become part of reality, in turn seen and understood differently.
