Tegen een nachtblauwe hemel tekent zich gotisch kantwerk af, bekroond met gevleugelde draken. De kunstenaars van the easthetic movement, wilden ook terug naar de middeleeuwen, en dat was in feite de opmaat naar het gedachtengoed van de art nouveau, waarin kunstenaars ambachtelijk pre-industrieel, betekenisvol werk wilden maken. De vroege art nouveau sluit qua lijngebruik en vormentaal zeker aan op de gotiek. Houten kistje van binnen bekleed met zijde en van buiten met gedreven gepolychromeerd en verguld leder. - About the artist
