  • About the artist
Gerda Sutton was born in Bedford, the United Kingdom, on April 3rd, 1923. After finishing her studies in sciences in both Canada and England, she decided to solely focus on her painting career.

After she moved to France in 1955 she applied to the Academy of cubist painter André Lhote, and became involved with the group Reflets around 1965. Sutton started to abandon her realistic painting style of the fifties and focused on cubist landscapes and expressionist characters.

Her work became even more radical after the terrorist attacks in Paris of the mid-eighties. She passed away in Paris on September 30th 2005.
