In Ala Khonikava's paintings you imagine yourself in the middle of a meadow of thousands of wild flowers. Every blade and flower counts and is painted in a delicate, subtle way.
Ala Khonikava was born and raised in Belarus, where she received a degree in art and textile design from the Art Academy. She now lives in the Netherlands; in her studio in Meppel she works on her paintings.
"I don't have to travel the world for my inspiration."
Ala Khonikava's style is influenced by Impressionism. The landscape subject is inexhaustible for Ala, and the wild flowers are very grateful to paint.
Shapes and lines of trees, rhythm of reeds and branches, sharp color contrasts of sky and field, playing with light and shadow. In Ala Khonikava's paintings, every blade is important. She is very precise in the composition.
There is much to discover in Ala Khonikava's beautifully detailed paintings. And it is always about love, joy, freedom and happiness.
