  • About the artwork
    [EN]
This charming panel shows two oil sketches of goats in a sunny landscape, painted by the little-known painter Charles Wislin. Wislin executed the sketches in his typical, flowing brushwork. The sketches were painted directly on an unprimed panel, signed in oil on the bottom left. In the bottom right, he dated the work with pencil, directly in the wet paint: '27 Juin 82'.

Charles Wislin is a landscape painter influenced by impressionist painters. Rich, he was able to devote himself to painting without worrying about the art trade or artistic influences. Its landscapes are often those of Picardy, Normandy, Brittany, the forest of Fontainebleau but also the Pyrenees and the Alps.
